Today, the site consists of a car park owned by Vestby municipality. The residential project is planned in accordance with the detailed zoning plan for the adopted town centre plan. The project will include approximately 60 flats with an active, open façade at street level, and is expected to be fully developed in 4–5 years. This is a collaboration with Rema 1000, which will establish a shop on the building's ground floor.
"Vestby is developing and is a municipality experiencing strong growth. The municipality is centrally located, they are ambitious in their plans, and we have great faith in the area," says Anders Bakken Eriksen, Chief Executive Officer and partner at Bonum.
"It is a short distance to Oslo by car or train, and the property's location in Vestby town centre is exceptionally good, both central and rural, and there are good services, activity offerings and workplaces in the area," Eriksen continues.
The municipal council in Vestby adopted a zoning plan for Vestby town centre in 2016. The purpose of the plan is to facilitate significant residential, office, business and retail development in the immediate vicinity of the municipality's most important public transport hub.
The intention is that new buildings shall create urban densification of high quality, and the plan facilitates a mix of functions that allows for business development, good residential environments as well as attractive communal facilities and meeting places.
Attractive location
"The block is located right in the heart of Vestby town centre and will be the nearest neighbour to the new Kulturkvartalet, which will be completed in 2023. This will include a library, cultural hall and café, whilst the entire Rådhusgata will be transformed into a large park. The flats will largely face west and will literally have a 5-minute walk to the train," says Paul Koefoed, project manager at Bonum.
"In addition, we are looking at the possibility of a large, shared roof terrace, with multi-layered vegetation and perhaps the opportunity to grow plants, so here you get flats that tick many boxes. We are in preliminary dialogue with various architectural firms and expect to have the first meeting with the municipality during the autumn," he concludes.
