Bonum secures the giant Blakstad property, among Asker's largest development sites
The number of homes on the site has not yet been determined. Vestre Viken's feasibility study has outlined an urban village concept with between 700 and 800 homes inspired by classic Italian villages

Bonum and Meteva Eiendom have entered into an agreement with Vestre Viken HF to purchase the 305-acre former hospital site at Blakstad in Asker.
The number of homes on the site has not yet been determined. Vestre Viken's feasibility study has outlined an urban village concept with between 700 and 800 homes inspired by classic Italian villages, whilst Asker municipality's housing programme operates with around 400 homes. The final number and concept will be decided through the planning process.
The site stretches down towards the Oslofjord and has housed psychiatric hospital operations for a full 121 years, until operations were discontinued in August 2025. Vestre Viken HF put the property up for sale in an open bidding round that began in December 2025, attracting broad interest from leading property operators.
Great opportunities
– Blakstad is quite simply one of the most spectacular development properties to come on the market in Asker in modern times. The outstanding location by the fjord, the fine existing building stock and the size of the site provide a starting point that we believe very few other projects in the region can match, says Anders Bakken Eriksen, managing director and partner at Bonum.
He emphasises that the companies are entering the project with a long-term perspective and a thorough planning process together with Asker municipality.
– We shall take the time needed to develop a solid and well-anchored plan. The ambition is a residential area of high quality that meets Asker's future needs, and that preserves and further develops the unique historical and landscape values that lie on the site, says Bakken Eriksen.
300 million kroner
Vestre Viken HF and Asker municipality have simultaneously entered into an agreement on establishing new health-related activities on parts of the area, something that will help ensure that Blakstad continues to have an important social role in the future. Managing director of Vestre Viken HF, Lisbeth Sommervoll, stated at the announcement that the sale is "an important step in facilitating further development at Blakstad", and that it simultaneously gives the health trust "increased room for manoeuvre in the work of adapting the property portfolio to future needs in the health service". The minimum price on takeover is approximately 300 million kroner, with additional consideration as the property is developed. The transfer takes place when the zoning plan is adopted.
Adviser for 2 years
Newsec assisted as seller's adviser in the transaction.
– Newsec has been engaged as adviser for two years and assisted the seller in the extensive work with the feasibility study, strategic advice and finally the sale. We wish to congratulate Bonum on the purchase of a fantastic site, and look forward to following developments, says Håkon Heiberg Styrvold, head of the transaction department at Newsec.
