Bring autumn inside

Autumn is in full swing and nature's colours are showing themselves at their best. We are heading into darker times, so why not bring some of the warm colours inside?

Autumn is in full swing and nature's colours are showing themselves at their best. We are heading into darker times, so why not bring some of the warm colours inside?

To put it bluntly, most of us live in relatively boring, but 'safe' homes when it comes to interior design. We have long been in a minimalist period where much of the interior has been in the colour scale from white to black, and the endless shades of grey in between.

Minimalistisk-1

If you are one of those who has a minimalist style at home and are happy with it, I absolutely think you should keep it, unless you want a change.

Finally, this is beginning to change. We see that natural earth colours and warm tones are coming back, but fortunately they are not as extreme as in the 90s. A few years ago, we started cautiously with the bold accent wall that was meant to give the room a lift. Then entire rooms followed, often in a dark blue or green tone, to create a comfortable and cool old-fashioned library feeling. Now we are ready to dare a bit more!

Deep, natural and warm colours are being used more and more, and not just on one wall or in one room. The most difficult thing is probably choosing and working out what you can do in your own home. Everyday life is full of inspiration, not least from blogs, social media and tabloids telling you what is trendy, what goes well together and the pitfalls you must not fall into. It is not easy to make sense of. When all is said and done, the most important thing is that you are happy, so it is therefore important to spend some time working out what you like.

One of the most beautiful places you can now take inspiration from is nature. The colours outside are warm and pleasant and should be allowed to come inside before they disappear. Ochre yellow, rust red and chestnut brown are good examples of colours you will now find outside, in an endless variation of tones, which are excellent for brightening up the home.

Let yourself be inspired by the combinations nature puts together, and you will not have to worry about it.

Find inspiration in bushes and trees. Leaves, rose hips, chestnuts and berries contain colours that represent the beautiful autumn.

There are many possibilities when it comes to using colour, but the biggest change that does not actually cost that much, if you invest a little time, is painting. It does not necessarily have to be an entire room. It can be a piece of furniture, the kitchen, the skirting boards, the doors or the ceiling. The possibilities are endless and it is important not to forget that if you become dissatisfied, you can try another colour or paint back to the original.

Let yourself be inspired by the colours and possibilities below, and do it before the dark winter takes over.

As mentioned above, it is important to spend some time working out what you like and what can work well in your home. The best tip I can give you is that what you choose should be right for you. Do not paint your living room a particular colour because it is trendy or you think it is what your friends think is nice. It is you who lives there and you who should be happy! And if you are unsure, you are allowed to experiment.
